EtherCAT master

1. Module description:

a. EtherCAT is the mainstream fast industrial Ethernet solution today, and it is also the advanced core technology of Industry 4.0 intelligent manufacturing. There are two basic frameworks for realizing this scheme: master station + slave station;

b. The module is designed by the combination of EtherCAT master board + MCU board;

C. The EtherCAT master station adopts EC-01M, which is a pure hardware master station protocol chip; it supports two control interfaces: USB or SPI; it can be controlled by PC or external controller;

D. The EtherCAT master station can control the slave station through the officially provided PC software, as shown in the following pictures;

E. The EtherCAT master station can use its own familiar language to write application programs for control, such as commonly used C#, VC, VB, Python;

F. The MCU board adopts STM32F405 as the main control chip; it communicates with the main station board through SPI;

G. The MCU board has rich interfaces: Ethernet, CAN, RS485, RS232, and extended IO;

H. In addition to supporting conventional programming methods, the MCU board also supports Python programming;

2. Description of EC-01M master station chip:

a. This is a low-cost, high-efficiency, and very simple hardware-only master protocol chip;

b. Two control methods are supported: USB is connected to PC or SPI is used to connect to control chip;

c. RTOS and 160 FIFOs are integrated inside the IC, which is strongly guaranteed in real-time, which greatly reduces the performance requirements of PC or external controller, thereby reducing the total cost;

d. EC-01M supports a maximum of 40 slave stations to work synchronously, and the cycle period can reach 250us, and the jitter rate is approximately 0; and supports CSP, CSV, CST three drive modes;

e. EC-01M is designed in strict accordance with the standard EtherCAT protocol and supports the communication protocol of the CIA401/CIA402 standard.

f. Low cost, the price difference is more than 30 times that of the conventional BECHOFF main station;

g. Officially tested many brands of EtherCAT devices
