Marx generator uses 10-20 KV high voltage DC power supply, output hundreds of thousands to hundreds of thousands of volts of high voltage. In scientific research, it can be used as a high-voltage pulse power supply for experiment, and also for teaching of electromagnetics.

The discharge of Marx generator will produce relatively large electromagnetic interference. If switching power supply is more vulnerable to interference and damage, lithium batteries, batteries, transformers and other non-electromagnetic interference power supply should be used.ZVS high voltage power supply. The equipment should be as far away from other household appliances as possible, at least two or three meters away to avoid the electromagnetic interference of the arc.

Our store uses 24V50W transformer to supply power. After rectification and filtering, it becomes a DC-driven ZVS high-voltage power supply. It can also be usedLithium battery pack, battery power supply. Lithium batteries recommend a 6S battery pack of 22.2V.

Assembly flow chart:
1. Tighten 10 mm double-hole copper column on acrylic plate with screw


2. Make spark gap.
The wire in the kit is peeled, the 35 mm long copper wire is cut off, and the electric soldering iron is directly welded to the upper end. Bend the lead pin at the end of the copper wire into a ring with a pointed tong.

3. Bend the ends of the high-voltage resistor into rings with a pointed clamp

4. Fix the spark gap and high voltage resistance on the 10 mm double-hole copper column with 15 mm copper column. The first stage uses two high-power 10M ohm resistors.

5. Adjust the spark gap.The first stage clearance can be made about 15 mm, the last stage 5 mm, and the middle level clearance gradually decreases. If the input voltage is less than 20KV, the gap will be reduced accordingly.

6. Bend the pin of the high-voltage capacitor into a ring with a pointed clamp

7. Fix the high voltage capacitor on the lower copper column with 15mm copper column.


8. Fix the upper cover plate with screw. Install discharge electrodes.

9. In order to be durable and earthquake-proof during transportation, hot melt adhesive can be used to reinforce the capacitor pin and the copper column connection.

[It is strictly forbidden to touch Marx generator and high-voltage power supply in the state of electrification.
At the end of each test, a screwdriver or other metal with insulating handle is used to contact two copper columns at the input end of 20KV power supply at the same time, and the residual electricity in the capacitor is released, so that the Marx generator can be touched.
