TSL2591 High Dynamic Digital 1980 Optical Sensor Module I2C High Range Optical Sensor Development Tool

Description/Features: High Dynamic Range Digital Light Sensor
    Operating temperature: + 80 C
    Operating temperature: -30 C
    describe
When the future is bright, this ultra-high luminosity range sensor will help you measure it. The TSL2591 photometric sensor is an advanced digital light sensor suitable for use in a variety of light conditions. Compared to low-cost CdS cells, this sensor is more, allowing Lux to calculate and can be configured for different gain/timing ranges to detect light up to 88,000 lux at flight distances of 188 DULUX.
The nice part about this sensor is that it contains both infrared and full-spectrum diodes! This means you can measure infrared, full spectrum or human visible light separately. Most sensors can only detect one or the other, which does not accurately represent what the human eye sees (because we cannot perceive the IR light that is detected by most photodiodes). The sensor is much like TSL2561 but has a wider range (and the interface code is different). The sensor has a massive 600 million: 1 dynamic range! Unlike TSL2561 you can't change the I2C address, so keep that in mind.
The built-in ADC device can take advantage of this with any microcontroller, even if it does not have analog input. The current consumption is extremely low, so it is ideal for low-power data recording systems. About 0.4 mA active sensing, less than 5 mA power down mode.
Of course, we won't leave you with a spreadsheet and a "Good luck!" - We wrote a detailed tutorial on how to connect the sensor, equip it with an Arduino and take readings and calculate the Lux sample code.
